Christopher Jones, 43, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Oct. 29 to second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release.

Pleasantville police responded to the Pleasant Acres Apartments on Sunday, Apr. 3, 2022. A man reportedly had a gun in a black Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows.

Officers stopped a car matching the description and Jones was a passenger. Despite being ineligible for a gun permit in New Jersey, he had a loaded revolver in a bag across his torso.

Jones entered his guilty plea on the first day of the trial after the assistant prosecutor's opening statement and before evidence was presented to the jury. He was facing up to 10 years in state prison and wouldn't be eligible for parole for at least five years.

Sentencing was scheduled for Wednesday, Mar. 12, 2025.
